Movie storyline: In 1933, during the Great Depression, New York City entertainer Ann Darrow is employed by monetarily upset movie producer Carl Denham to star in a film with entertainer Bruce Baxter. Ann learns her beloved dramatist, Jack Driscoll, is the screenwriter. Shooting happens on the SS Venture, under Captain Englehorn, and under Carl's misrepresentation it will cruise Singapore. In truth, Carl expects to sail to and film the strange Skull Island. Chief Englehorn reconsiders about the journey, provoked by his group's difficult situation ahead. On the journey, Ann and Jack experience passionate feelings for. The Venture gets a radio message illuminating Englehorn there is a warrant for Carl's capture because of his disobedience of the studio's orders to stop creation.
The message teaches Englehorn to redirect to Rangoon, yet the boat becomes lost in mist and steers into the rocks on Skull Island. Carl and his film group, including cameraman Herb, colleague Preston, and blast administrator Mike, investigate the island and are assaulted by locals who kill Mike and one more individual from the team. Englehorn intercedes and protects the film team, however as they put forth attempts to leave the waters, a local sneaks onto the boat and abducts Ann. The locals offer Ann as a penance to King Kong, a 25-foot-tall (7.6 m) primate. Jack sees Ann's vanishing, and the team gets back to the island, yet are past the point of no return as Kong escapes with Ann into the wilderness. Carl figures out how to get a brief look at Kong not really set in stone to catch him on film.
